Being as our area is rich with Civil War history... which side (if you have one) do you stand on?

Although the primary belief was that the war started over slavery, each state believed that they would be able to have the right to decide for themselves. Most were against it, but believed they should have the independent choice.

Me? Im happier south of the Mason-Dixon line...

Well seeings how i'm from maryland. I guess i'm partial to the south.

Ive been wrong a long time then. Theres a bumber sticker on my old truck and a flag in my window at home!

Ive got a Confederate battle flag flying on my house... proud to be a formally educated redneck. I intend to raise my son the same way.

Born and raised in PA.....war is never civil.....glad the states stayed togeather....even though slavery was an after thought, thank God it was abolished....believe in states rights but also believe in the United States....hope we never split, love USA.......

I sympathize with the men, women, and children who suffered loss from this country's war. Even had Stonewall lived, the outcome of the war would probably been the same, the north was far more industrialized, had many more people, and they were not fighting and detroying their own resouses on northern land, with the exception of Gettysburg.

The federalist had many enept leaders and made horrendous mistakes during much of the war, the confederates fought valiantly but could not overcome their disadvantages. Many federalist didn't give a crap about the slaves but found the idea of slavery distafeful. The south, mostly women and children, along with the freed slaves were left to starve or make their own way.

Was there a winner? Who knows, it just is what it is...a horrible part of our past, a battle that some still continue, nothing learned....some will grow stronger, a country grown stronger as it remains united, I hope.

I  believe they should be  more angry at the Black men in Africa who SOLD  the sons and daughters to  people in the first place. *I* believe that  they would not have the freedom and  life they have today if their ancestors were not brought here. But I didn't do it.
They have come a  LONG way, baby, just in My lifetime.
